A fully floral society

Read on the ticker tape at the foot of a public TV screen, and presumably what the speaker really said was that Britain is a fully plural society. But what a delightful mishearing! Plurality is an excellent principle, but somehow I'm irresistibly drawn to the notiion of florality as the guideline to follow in all we do in our social lives...

Shortly after, I read a message from a friend based in Lancaster, assuring me she was ok other than pooped after coping with overnight flooding concerns and loss of electricity supply (reconnection timing unknown as the rain was still falling). Scenes on the screen of Carlisle looking like a place of canals. Goodness, what a contrast!
