The gesture must always come first

I recently joined a Look & Draw class, 'Life into the Figure'. In last week's class we did a number of rapid drawings with charcoal flying and paint dripping. I can enjoy quick life drawing but this session had an exra something, a feeling of intense pleasure as i concentrated and tried to apply the guidance for the particular exercise. Here's one from the first set of drawings (each done in a few seconds), and a more considered one from later in the session but still very quick with five applications of charcoal four times wiped back.
