the appeal of porcelain

It seems I've encountered porcelain (as used in fine art rather than teasets) more frequently in recent times. Jane Bustin (see my recent post Resistance and Persistence) uses this material as well as other related but less familiar variants. And some porcelain work in the SSA Open Exhibition at the turn of the year caught my eye.

Carol Sinclair's Fleeting was particularly delicate and the detail on the right is included to reveal the structure more but the colour is just an effect of the photo.

Another work in porcelain on the wall has a particular expressive texture and has been used in adventurous ways.
