thinking about collagraphs

As a help towards making a start on my Hands theme printmaking I had a browsing session at the library. I found this quote (I've noted the source below): "The image is a result of the physical topography of the plate". This is a neat summation, and for me points towards the fact that the plate takes on a life of its own, born of the events in its construction, and therefore not all entirely within my control. This is promising. I've decided to experiment with collagraph before embarking on any etchings/aquatints.
