I make a new discovery

I read with interest a review of Saatchi Gallery's new all-women exhibition. One of the illustrations caught my eye immediately: it was Virgile Ittah's scultpure which I find thrilling. The title is 'Echoue au seuil de la raison', something else that attracted me as my imagination is stirred by titles that seem to open into worlds of possible meaning that invite exploration. This to me is one such title, one such work, and I plan to look further into her ouevre to discover what hidden treasures may be there.

Already the idea of an all-women exhibition has proved its worth to me, if I had needed proof. Who knew that such an artist was creating strongly expressive work out there, in simple materials (amongst others wax, paper and two found iron bed frames). Why haven't I seen her work before? A question I keep asking myself although I can hazard a guess.
